The MUTS were very busy during the July 6th volunteer event. One crew repaired a damaged sign in the Frog Tank area. Another crew worked on the Mud Tank non-motorized trail enhancing water bars and clearing up the trail. The third crew worked on the Rocky Road OHV motorized trail removing some of the rocks.
The Munds Park Trail Stewards (MUTS) is saying good-bye to Sean Murphy, the Coconino Forest Service Trail and Wilderness Coordinator. Sean was responsible for organizing the MUTS projects, providing materials, equipment and the Forest Service trail crew during the MUTS trail volunteer events. Sean is taking on another position at the Coconino National Forest.
The personal change will not affect the MUTS Volunteer Day schedule.
Matthew Sommer, from the Coconino National Forest Service (CNF) has updated the Pinewood (240) and the Iron Springs Trailhead kiosks. In additional to trail information, the Pinewood TH kiosk has a brief Munds Park history and the Iron Springs kiosk has the MUTS history. Later
this summer the CNF will update the trail maps.
