MUTS News

The Coconino National Forest Service has started thinning in the forest north of Munds Park which includes the area east of Interstate 17, and west of Forest Road 700. The good news is the thinning will reduce the wildfire danger. Unfortunately, the logger’s equipment has torn up the Forest Service trails in the area.

On May 11th, the Munds Park Trail Stewards (MUTS) volunteers and Coconino Forest Service trail crews reestablished the trails west and north of Frog Tank. Please be aware that some trails may be hard to follow, and there may be forest
thinning activity in the area.

The next MUTS Volunteer Trail Event is July 13th.
Projects: Maintenance on the Frog Tank Loop Motorized Multi-User Trail
Meet: Janice Place Forest Access

We will finish our trail work around 12 noon; afterwards, a free lunch will be served. Please R.S.V.P. by July 6th, via email if you plan on attending.

What to bring: suggest wearing long pants, gloves, sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and
bring a good sense of humor. Water and trail tools will be provided.
